About Us...

Why PBMI?

student diverEvery child has a right to education, but every child is not successful in their educational endeavors leading to lower self esteem and sometimes decisions that land them in the juvenile justice system. The Palm Beach Marine Institute helps kids chart a successful course for life through more personalized education with a marine themed points-rewards system to help them gain confidence, modify their behavior, and assist them in developing into responsible and productive citizens.

How You May Help...SPONSORS

We are a nonprofit organization and require support from our community and you! Our capital campaign goal for 2009 is to raise $375,000!

Capital funding projects - immediate needs:

  • Additional Classroom
  • We have an immediate need for an additional classroom. You may sponsor delivery and installation of a portable classroom for a donation of $15,000.

  • New Roof

  • Previous years hurricanes have damaged our roof. Repairs have been made, but we really require a new roof. Will you or your organization sponsor our new roof? You may email us or call (561) 951-8345 to speak to one of our board members.

  • Large Aquarium Repair

  • In the past, we have had an amazing aquarium that our kids help to care for, but unfortunately, it was also damaged during storms and is currently empty. This aquarium is approximately 6 feet by 4 feet along one of our classroom walls and without repairs becomes a problem during rainstorms. With your help, we can make this a beautiful addition to our school again.

  • Dive Tank Repair

  • Our most popular program for the kids has been our dive program. Recently, our fantastic 30 foot dive tank suffered serious pipe damage. Your sponsorship can get our kids back in the water. After all, in order for them to be able to participate in the dive program, they had to earn it! Please assist us in rewarding our students for their hard work by sponsoring our dive program. We are also in need of a sponsored SCUBA instructor.

  • Rebuild Docks
  • Palm Beach Marine Institute is fortunate to be located in Bert Winter's Park, Juno Beach, Florida and on the Intracoastal Waterway. Our docks are another area of our school that needs new life breathed into it. We have marine engineers currently on our board, but we still need your help in funding the project. Your generous sponsorship will help us design and build a dock that will be the water gateway to our school.

  • New School Buses

  • We need three school buses, but you could sponsor just one school bus for $30,000. Our students are transported from all areas of Palm Beach County.
